Amber reaches an exciting Net Zero milestone: Our SBTi target has been officially approved

We’re thrilled to share that Amber’s near-term Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) target has now been officially approved. This is a moment that means a great deal to us as it reflects our commitment to taking meaningful, science-led climate action and to leading by example as we continue our journey to Net Zero.
Our SBTi commitment
Our validated target sets out a clear, ambitious path:
Amber commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 51% by 2030 from a 2019 base year and to measure and reduce its Scope 3 emissions.
We’re proud that SBTi recognised this ambition, noting:
“The SBTi commends your ambitious 1.5°C-aligned target, currently the most ambitious designation available through the SBTi process.”
Aligning with the 1.5°C pathway is vital, and while the science shows the window is narrow, it also shows that progress is still possible when action is taken quickly and decisively.
Why this matters to Amber
For us, this validation is more than a formal approval. It’s a reminder of why our work matters. The latest climate science continues to underline the urgency of halving global emissions before 2030 and reaching Net Zero by 2050.
This milestone reflects the work of teams across Amber, and we want to extend a thank you to everyone involved. Your dedication, insight and collaboration have helped us reach a moment that strengthens both our credibility and our purpose.
It also sits alongside wider achievements that reflect who we are as a business. With our B Corp certification and strong EcoVadis accreditation, we are moving into 2026 with a clear foundation to build on shaped by transparency, responsibility and a genuine desire to help organisations make better energy choices.
About the Science Based Targets initiative
The Science Based Targets initiative supports companies worldwide to set GHG reduction targets in line with climate science. It develops standards, tools and guidance that help organisations align with a 1.5°C pathway and work towards Net Zero by 2050. Partners include CDP, the UN Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute and WWF.
Looking ahead
Having our SBTi target approved is a landmark moment but it is only one part of our wider journey. We will continue reducing our own emissions while helping organisations across the UK transition to a lower-carbon future through smarter energy decisions, practical reductions and long-term planning.
