Georgia’s volunteering story

At Amber, our employees are given dedicated time to give back to the communities and causes they care about. Last week, I used my volunteering hours for the first time with Amber, and it was a wonderful experience. I spent my time at the beautiful Kingston Lacy House, a National Trust property located in the Dorset countryside.
Giving back on Earth Day
I assisted with garden maintenance, which involved a lot of weeding, over two sunny days. I worked alongside a passionate group of regular volunteers, as well as Clive and Charlotte who are part of the core Kingston Lacy gardening team.
Like many of my Amber colleagues, I work remotely, so this was a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and connect face-to-face. Being outdoors and collaborating with a new group of individuals was a refreshing change of pace.
Participating in this volunteering project felt like a natural extension of Amber’s values. Our volunteering policy is there to encourage us to support the causes we care about.
For me, this was a perfect match.
As someone with a true passion for gardening, the chance to contribute to a space like Kingston Lacy and spend time in nature was really rewarding – especially as it was Earth Day.
After working hard in the sun over those two days, I concluded my time there with a relaxing stroll through the Kitchen Garden and admired the famous cherry blossom trees. I’ m already looking forward to next year when, hopefully, I can do it all again!
Living our B Corp values
We are passionate about our B Corp values, and our volunteering policy is one of the ways we practice what we preach. Our team encourages everyone to get involved in projects that foster connection and purpose beyond the workplace.
Whether it’s planting trees, helping at a local food bank, or assisting charities, these opportunities allow colleagues to use our time meaningfully to support the communities we care about.
