Teamwork makes the green work: Permanently Unique makes Net Zero a team effort

We are thrilled to work with businesses that recognise sustainability isn’t just a strategy, it’s a culture. Our partnership with Permanently Unique is a perfect example of what happens when sustainability is driven from the ground up.
Their Net Zero journey hasn’t been led solely from boardrooms – it’s been brought to life by the chefs, servers, and managers who power their restaurants every day. They are creating a place for real, lasting change that happens through people.
Embedding Net Zero into business culture
Permanently Unique is an ambitious operator with sites across the UK and new locations launching in London and Dubai. With expansion on the horizon, they recognised the importance of building a sustainability framework that could grow with them, embedded in day-to-day operations. Through our employee engagement programme, our team supported their journey to make Net Zero a living, breathing part of their culture from day one.
The power of team engagement
Rather than relying on generic toolkits or one-off training sessions, the approach was built around face-to-face engagement and collaborative planning. The project kicked off with a full-team workshop held in one of their unique restaurant settings, where staff from all levels came together to define their sustainability mission and commit to shared goals.
This wasn’t about overwhelming people with information, it was about giving them ownership.
Amber developed a series of practical, themed resource packs to support each phase of action. The team started with energy efficiency, moved into food waste reduction, and is now exploring sustainable travel as a summer seasonal campaign.
Each theme is supported by simple, actionable tools that staff can pick up and run with.
What made the programme successful was the level of pride and participation it inspired. Staff quickly began implementing changes in their areas, and the energy became contagious.
Results that speak for themselves
Over just six months, the results have been impressive. Sustainability is now part of everyday conversations across sites, and engagement levels are high. The monthly check-ins have become a moment for reflection and celebration, as teams share learnings and plan for the next focus area.
What’s especially powerful is that these changes are not being enforced. They’re being championed by the team themselves, and sustainability is something everyone feels connected to.
