Who needs to comply with PPN 06/21?

Any suppliers bidding for UK government contracts of £5 million or above will need to ensure they comply with PPN 06/21 to be considered for contracts.

The policy mandates that suppliers must demonstrate their commitment to climate change, through annually-updated, publicly-published plans.

Emission reduction target

Using data from the emissions assessment, along with data from potential reduction measures, Amber will support the selection of Net Zero targets to ensure they are progressive and achievable.

We will report progress towards the target and simulate potential reductions actions to allow for strategic investment decisions to be integrated into wider business plans.

What are the benefits of PPN 06/21 compliance?

While achieving PPN 06/21 can unlock government and NHS contracts, there are significant advantages which extend beyond compliance.

Compliance with PPN 06/21 will ensure that your business is eligible for government or NHS contacts, opening the door to public sector work and helping you towards the Evergreen sustainable supplier assessment.

Achieving compliance with PPN 06/21 can help businesses streamline their reporting processes and reduce associated costs as there are significant crossover areas with other legislative requirements such as SECR.

Businesses that proactively align with Net Zero targets are more attractive to clients, investors, and stakeholders who prioritise environmental responsibility.

As it is mandatory to publicly publish the report, compliance ensures clear, standardised carbon reporting, allowing businesses to track and disclose their emissions more effectively. This transparency not only builds trust but also supports strategic decision-making in reducing carbon footprints.
